Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+ / Pedal Power AC Review
Pedal Power 2 Plus
When you need to power multiple pedals that require different amounts of DC output or types of DC output (ACA on a DM2 for example or Line6) the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus
is what your looking for. The PP2+ can power 4 standard 9V or 12V Boss AC (DM2 again), 2 high current 9V (Line 6 modelers), 2 9V with sag control (this works well
with distortion/fuzz boxes - try a tube scream with some battery drain) and a 18V/24V (current MXR Flanger or Deluxe Memory Man).
The main difference between the Pedal Power 2 Plus and the Pedal Power 2
is on outputs number 5 and 6. When the DIP switch is set in the normal
position on these outputs, the Pedal Power 2 Plus offers 9VDC at just
over 250 mA of current. The Pedal Power 2 provides 100 mA of current
through outputs five and six with the DIP switch in normal. This change
was made so that the Pedal Power 2 Plus would be capable of powering the
Boss Twin pedals.
A second difference is that the Pedal Power 2 Plus performs well when
used via a voltage converter when overseas. It's more rugged, the
transformer doesn't get hot at 50hz.
Pedal Power AC
Have a bunch of wall warts powering your rack effects? This is where the PP AC comes in handy. You can replace those wall warts with a single box that can power
two 9VAC and two selectable 9VAC or 12VAC outputs. For example I'm using a PP AC to power my Rocktron Xpression and an old Rocktron Rack Interface.
Conclusion
If you need to rid yourself of wall warts and have pedals that have different power needs the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power products can help consolidate and neaten your
rack and/or pedal board. The work well and I've had no problems with them in my current rack. Highly recommended.
